What's Happening in art for the month of February, 2012 We've come to the time of year when the younger ones are at ease with painting, so we'll do a lot of that this month. We'll do a Valentine theme painting, a bit of abstract painting, some Kindinsky. They all enjoy painting! The fourth graders will be beginning their big weaving project. It's very hard in the beginning, but as they progress, they all really get into it! They always turn out beautiful! Fifth grade is still working on their foreshadowing project. Please come down to the art hallway to see all their art. The sixth graders are working on complicated Starbursts. You'll be impressed with how impressive they look. Seventh grade are designing posters for Valentines Day to be on display around the school. Later in the month we'll focus on self portraits. The Eighth Graders are beginning a National contest: Putting your Faith in Action. What can we do about children and adults who are homeless. I'd like to extend my thanks to Michael Bowler who worked so very hard in designing and finishing a beautiful stained glass which was presented at the Eighth grade mass downtown last Wednesday. All grades will be given the opportunity to work on their designs for The National Goggle Contest. The artists of the month are Vincent Van Gogh and Wassily Kindinsky.
