ART LESSON PLANS 09/29/08-10/03/08 PERIOD 1 (ART 1), (MONDAY--FRIDAY)- STUDENTS WILL CONTINUE TO WORK ON SHADING EXERCISES AND THEN APPLY SMOOTH VALUE TO THEIR GRAPH DRAWINGS TO ACHIEVE A 3D EFFECT. (TUESDAY)- SKETCH #3 (FAVORITE HOBBY)--- IS DUE (FRIDAY)- SKETCH #4 ASSIGNED FOR THE WEEKEND. PERIOD 3 (8TH GRADE ART) --- (MONDAY-FRIDAY)--- STUDENTS WILL BEGIN DESIGNING A SYMMETRICAL ANALOGOUS PAINTING. THEY WILL TAKE THE FOCAL CORNER PAPER AND TRANSFER THE DESIGN SYMMETRICALLY TO THE MAIN BOARD AND THEN PRACTICE MIXING ANALOGOUS COLORS. AFTERWARDS THEY WILL PAINT THE FOCAL CORNER PAGE IN AN ANALOGOUS COLOR SCHEME EMPHASIZING A FOCAL POINT. (MONDAY)- STUDENTS NEED TO HAND IN THEIR HOMEWORK DRAWING. PERIOD 4 (CERAMICS 1)--- (MONDAY)- STUDENTS WILL CONTINUE TO WORK ON AN 8" MORPHING COIL VASE WITH 3 OR MORE DIFFERENT REPEATING COIL DESIGNS. VASE WILL ALTER FORM AS IT RAISES FROM THE BASE. (TUESDAY-FRIDAY)- STUDENTS WILL DESIGN AND BEGIN A CREATIVE (UNUSUAL TEAPOT) THAT WILL HOLD A MINIMUM OF 12 OUNCES, HAVE A LID, A SPOUT, AND A HANDLE. PERIOD 4 (CERAMICS 2)--- (MONDAY-FRIDAY)- STUDENTS WILL BEGIN DESIGNING A UNIQUE AND CREATIVE INDEPENDENT PROJECT. EMPHASIS WILL BE LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY, CREATIVITY, AND CRAFTSMANSHIP. STUDENTS ARE TO TURN IN A SKETCH BEFORE BEGINNING. PERIOD 4 (INDEPENDENT ART 3)--- (MONDAY-TUESDAY)- STUDENTS WILL PRACTICE COLOR PENCIL BLENDING EXERCISES IN PREPARATION FOR A MUSICAL GRAPHIC PROJECT. (WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY)- STUDENTS WILL BEGIN MUSICAL GRAPHIC PROJECT. PROJECT IS TO BE CENTERED ON A SONG OR A PERSONAL POEM WHERE BOTH THE WORDS (AROUND 35) EMBEDDED WITHIN THE PROJECT, AND THE IMAGES MUST CONVEY THE SAME MEANING. PROJECT IS MEANT TO BE COMPLETED IN COLOR PENCIL WITH AN EMPHASIS ON 3D, FORM, AN ANALOGOUS COLOR SCHEME, AND A FOCAL POINT. FOCAL POINT AND 3D FORM, AND GOOD USE OF POSITIVE/NEGATIVE SPACE WILL BE EMPHASIZED. THE STUDENTS ARE TO PULL IMAGES FROM AT LEAST 7 DIFFERENT SOURCES (THEIR OWN ART WORK, PHOTOGRAPHS, AND COPYRIGHT FREE SITES) THEY ARE TO MAKE GOOD SELECTIONS AND COMBINE THEM CREATING A DREAMLIKE SETTING THAT IS UNREAL, AND COULD NOT POSSIBLY EXIST. ARTISTIC EMPHASIS WILL BE CREATING A FOCAL POINT AND A ANALOGOUS COLOR SCHEME BY DESATURATING BEFORE ADDING COLOR. IMAGES THAT ARE NOT YOUR OWN (SUCH AS THOSE FOUND IN BOOKS, MAGAZINES, NEWSPAPERS, AND THE WEB) ARE PROTECTED BY WHAT WE CALL COPYRIGHTS. TO USE THEM THE ARTIST OR SITE MUST EXPLICITLY GIVE PERMISSION FOR YOU TO USE THEM. (MONDAY)- STUDENTS WILL PRACTICE USING THE AIRBRUSH, AND WILL CREATE A 4” 3D SPHERE USING THE AIRBRUSH TOOL. (TUESDAY-FRIDAY)- STUDENTS WILL AIRBRUSH THE CLOWN HAND EXERCISE WITH AN EMPHASIS ON USING THE AIRBRUSH TOOL WITH A CONSISTENT LIGHT SOURCE, THE SMUDGE TOOL AND THE TECHNIQUE OF LAYER SUBTRACTIONS THROUGHOUT THE EXERCISE. STUDENTS SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR A PICTURE TO USE AS RESOURCE FOR AN AIRBRUSH PROJECT. IF YOU CAN NOT FIND THE PERMISSION TO USE THEM, YOU CAN NOT USE THEM!!! STUDENTS NEED TO RECORD THE EXACT WEB ADDRESS FOR SITES AS YOU FIND YOUR IMAGES!!! ALL IMAGES INCLUDING IMAGES TAKEN FROM THE WEB WILL HAVE THEIR SOURCES EMBEDDED IN THE PHOTOSHOP DOCUMENT HELPING TO VERIFY THE STUDENTS RIGHTS TO USE THOSE IMAGES BEFORE THE PROJECT CAN BE GRADED!!! |
