Communication:

The agenda is the best line of communication.  Please check your child's points and sign the agenda daily.  Thursday folders will have your child's work for the previous week.  Please talk with your child about their grades and go over any incorrect answers with them.  Sign the folder and return it on Friday.

Report cards:
Grades will be given this year for the first time in your child's school career.  The first report card requires a conference so that we may sit down together and go over the report card and answer any questions you may have.  Second graders should have a DRA reading level of 28 by the end of second grade. They also should be able to read 104 words per minute  the end of this school year.  Please read with your child every night.

Grades are as follows:
100-93 - A
92-85 -B
84-77 -C
76-70 - D
69-below -Failure

Workdays: All school, system, and training days are REQUIRED. Ten-month employees who have accumulated annual leave days in excess of the 10 required annual leave days built into the calendar may take annual leave on one or both of the optional workdays, June 12-13. Other ten-month employees (except Bus Drivers, Food Service employees, and certain EC assistants who work only on days that students are in school) must work on all workdays and training days included in the calendar.

Making Up Missed Days: The status of any day in the above calendar can be changed at any time during the school year if days are missed due to inclement weather. All days (with the exception of Sundays) between August 25 and June 8, no matter how they are designated on the school calendar may become make-up school days. Since the weather is unpredictable it is impossible to guarantee that student holidays or staff holidays/annual leave days will not be changed. Be advised that the week of April 9-13 is only a tentative Spring Break. Any or every day in this week may become a make-up school day. Any Saturday, particularly in January-April is subject to being changed to a school make-up day. Notice for make-up days may be short depending upon the timing and duration of inclement weather. General statutes and State Board of Education policy concerning the school calendar will be followed. The make-up schedule will be announced as soon as possible after an inclement weather event has ended.
