There is no cost for participating in the club. We welcome parents who have a knowledgeable experience of the chess game to help during the in-class chess club meeting. Set-up, informal judging, and instructional small group communication would be very helpful. This club is designed to nurture and encourage a child to learn to love the game Chess. Informal Chess club competition consists of 10 minutes chess blitz rounds. Afterschool expectations are: Students set their own boards and clean-up/put away at the end. Parents must sigh-out your child. Please be prompt when picking up your child. No younger or non-chess member can "sit-in." Quiet voices during the games. This session is for all classroom students, but the scores for the chess students will be recorded for Grades 4-5. Chess members will participate in the spring club photos. They receive a participant club certificate. Scores will be posted in the Enrichment classroom for the top 5 members per grade. Parents, please make sure a chess set is ready for use at home. Allow your child to "help" you learn the game as you want to be part of their fond memories of your support.
*********** previous Enrichment schoolnotes information ********************* This summer was filled with wonderful opportunities to grow in faith and fun! Take time to look back and note the experiences you most value. School comes upon us quickly, so much to take in the first days back. Think of a special goal for this year to achieve that will be a statement of your Catholic identity.
