Third Quarter

Third Quarter Unit of Study will be the Continent of Asia focusing on India,Japan, China, Vietnam, Sri Lanka

Classes will focus on the Asian continent and the different countries that compose Asia.   The focus will begin on the country of India with its physical features. We will study the Physical Features of the country such as the Himilayas, the Deccan Plateau, the Thar Desert, Indus River, the Ganges River   (NCSCS 1.01, 1.02 ,1.03) 

This unit will begin with India where we will learn about the history of India, the major religions of the world, and the influence of the Mogul,and European exploration .NCSCS 8.02

Our study will continue into China, where we will learn about the early dynasties of China, the Physical Features that influence China and kept it seperate from the West. The cultural and economic influence on countries today. Current events will be included in this unit of study. 6.01

Projects and hands-on Activities will be a major part of this quarter. Students will be analyzing and designing maps of the different countries of Southeast and southwest Asia,research on one of the maor countries, and designing their own Indian Village

Students will compare and contrast the different religions of the world, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Shintoism NCSCS 12.01

Other smaller countries that will be studied will be Sri Lanka, Tiwain, Butan, Napal, Afganistan, Pakistan. (Geography and Culture of the Region)1.01, 1.03.2.2

The Spring Break is April 1st-April 11th with students returning to school on Monday April 12th.

Remediation will begin on March 22 in 7th grade classes-Reteaching on Math and Reading for EOG tests.

REMEDIATION WILL BE OFFERED IN THE MORNINGS AND AFTER SCHOOL ON MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAYS STARTING  SOON. 

Ask your students about the 12 Powerful WORDS AND SEE IF THEY CAN TELL YOU THE DEFINITIONS-THIS HAS BEEN A SCHOOL WIDE FOCUS AND ACTIVITY TO IMPROVE OUR VOCABULARY AND TESTING STRATEGIES
