Dear Parents/Guardians,

Our year has continued to be a success!  Thank you for those of you who have contacted me with concerns about your child!

Couple of things that I have been talking to my students about lately is their chattiness!  Please talk to them about how important it is not to talk when the teacher or an adult is talking.  Also, some of my students have not been completing the homework assignments on a nightly basis.  Please try to complete the homework and if for some reason something came up and the homework could not be done, please send me an e-mail or a note in the planner!

Regrouping has gone very well.  The students continue to thrive in their reading classes.  Please work on math addition facts and telling time.

I will be sending home November Conference reminders.  Please sign the paper and return to me as soon as you can.  If you can't make it to the conference, please e-mail me or call so we can reschedule for a later day.

I enjoy working together with you to ensure the success of your child academically and socially.  I strongly believe that if we work together, the children will succeed.  I am here for the children and for you!

Our First Grade mission statement:  We will be ready for second grade by June 2010!
Our First Grade vision statement:  (Coming soon!)

Please make sure your child continues to bring in the needed supplies labeled with their first and last name.  Way to cougars!!

Many of you have turned in the volunteer slip stating that you would like to volunteer.  I turned in my slips before writing down your names.  I would LOVE to have volunteers help with the students with reading and math facts.  It is never too early to learn their addition facts!  :o)  I would also need vounteers to make photocopies, color, cut and laminate.  Please let me know what you would like to do!

If you have ANY questions or concerns, please e-mail me
at Maryalice.Hammond@hcps.org or call me at 410-273-5550.  I check my e-mail frequently throughout the day.

Sincerely,
