 Homework Homework is very important in a student's education. It reinforces what they have learned in class. If for some reason your child does not understand his/her homework assignment, please write me a note via their planner or through e-mail and I will help them in the morning. When your child comes home from school, ask them what they learned in class. Your child wants you to be part of their school life. Support them in all they do! **They will have Math homework every night except for Friday nights. They also need to read 10 to 15 minutes every night! Words of the Week: or, before, from, very, their Reading Phonics skills: We will focus on the “or” PAL (ex: for and born) and compound words (ex: baseball and anthill). Comprehension Strategy:”compare and contrast” and “inferences”. We will read a variety of text and find connections with similarities and differences. We will also infer during reading and look for the clues that author’s give in the text. Go to the following link below. It is a very fun web site that will help the students learn their sight words. They can choose from a variety of games and reviews. They need to have their sight words in order to do this! Writing: We will continue with our writer’s workshop unit. This week we will focus on writing a set of directions using transition words: first, next, then and last. Math: This week we will end our math unit 3. We will focus on counting pennies, nickels and dimes, exploring data with tallies and graphs, and using dominoes and part-part-total frames to add. Math Homework: Mon-HL 3.12 Tues- HL 3.13 Wed- HL 3.14 Thurs- Review Ditto will be sent home Fri- No Homework: Test today! Science: Here's Looking at You! Social Studies: Fall will begin on Wednesday, November 18th |
