2009/2010!!!

Dates to Remember

  •   Oct. 29 - Early Release Day (students will leave at 12:00)
  • October 30 - Parent/Teacher conferences
  • November 7 - Fall Festival

We all enjoyed our trip to the Meroney Theater to watch the production of Tom Sawyer.  The play was great.  I hope that many of our third graders will want to read the book now that they have seen the play.

Using technology to help us learn is a big part of what we do at Bostian.  The Impact units that we  will do this year are: Our Salisbury Walking Tour, Soil, Black History Month and Bones and Muscle.

It is official!  We have purchased the rights to PI (Prescriptive Instruction)for the 2009/2010 school year.  We will be  taking a beginning test to determine what Sippel level each child will be on and then they can access it at home as well as school.  We feel that this is an important tool to use to get children ready for the EOG in the spring.  You will be getting more information about the log in soon.

This year we will be learning about some characteristics of good citizens.  Each month we will focus on  a different characteristic.  Teachers and staff members will be watching the behavior of all students in order to find and recognize students displaying the characteristic of the month.

The characteristics are:

  •  September - Responsibility
  • October - Self Discipline
  • November - Good Judgement
  • December - Respect
  • January - Courage
  • February - Kindness
  • March - Integrity
  • April - Perseverance
  • May - Encouragement
  • June - Applaud/Cheer

   AR IS IMPORTANT!!

Many of our third graders are reading up a storm!!!  Several of them have already made their goal for the year but they show no sign of slowing down.  I am pleased that the students are reading and taking tests.  Keep up the good work.

PARENTS,

Look at my other page, Third Grade Homework for all of the third grade homework each night. I think that this will be a big help in getting homework done each night.  It is important that each parent look at their child's agenda daily so that they know if work is getting completed. We often write notes in the agenda.

Parents and students can email me by going to the top of this page and clicking on the email Mrs. Caudle button. I always answer my email if you will put your return email address on the message.

Students, read this page and see if you can find a word that makes no sense in the sentence. Come and whisper it to me and I'll give you a prize.  I will put in a new nonsense word each week. The first person to come to me with the word will win a double prize!
There is a new word. - - - Changed on Oct. 11.
