MJH MUSIC DEPARTMENT Welcome to the MJH Music Department web site. Take time to see what our classes are up to and enjoy playing around on some of the music site links provided. Meet the teacher: Becky McLain This is my second year teaching music at MJH but not my first rodeo. I received my BMEd. in vocal and classroom music from SLU and spent several years teaching piano and voice lessons in my private studio before joining the staff at Northlake Christian School. There I taught private lessons and built a music & choral program for grades K - 12. After 13 years of teaching, I took a year off before stepping into the public school system to teach K-8 music and choir at Lee Road Jr. High for 3 years. Katrina provided an opportunity for me to move into a full time position at a local church where I served for 4 years. In August of 2010, I decided to step back in to the classroom for another season and landed at MJH. I love being here. When I'm not doing school stuff, the majority of my time is spent working with my church. I am on staff there as the Assimilation Director and Creative Arts Director. My husband Sherman and I love to take his motorcycle for rides and I also love to play around with my camera taking pictures. We are both natives of Covington and have many connections throughout the community. We have 3 wonderful children: Andrew (who graduated this past year from SLU with a degree in Industrial Technology and is also a fantastic bass player), Sarah (who is a Sr. at SLU majoring in Accounting and loves to shop!) and Zach (who is a Sr. at Fountainbleau High and is an incredible song writer/musician and actor). I also have a very loyal but prissy 11 year old black & silver toy poodle named Molly. She is the one that really runs our house! I am grateful for the opportunity to share the world of music with you/your children. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or would like to get involved in opportunities to support/volunteer with the MJH Music Department. Becky McLain
