Welcome to connections computers! There is a new positive behavior program in place this year called the PRIDE plan.

December 1-5 and 8-12


6th Grade

MSBCS-BCSI-2: Students will identify and demonstrate computer maintenance and safety.

MSBCS-BCIS-4: Students will develop keyboarding skills by touch with speed and accuracy.

MSBCS-BCIS-7: Students will develop and model employability skills.

Monday, the students will learn the M and X keys.  Tuesday, the students will learn the P and V keys.  Wednesday, the students will learn the Q and Comma (,) keys.  Thursday, the students will review all previously learned keys.  Friday, the students will learn the Z and Colon (:) keys.  Monday, the students will learn the CAPS LOCK and Question Mark (?) keys.  Tuesday, the students will learn the Tab and Backspace keys.  Wednesday, the students will review all previously learned keys.  Thursday and Friday, the students will begin learning the basics of our presentation software and have time to make up any missing typing assignments.


7th Grade


MSBCS-BCSII-1: Students will reinforce keyboarding techniques.  MSBCS-BCSII-11:  The students will examine career requirements, job responsibility, employment trends, and opportunities for careers in business.



Monday, the students will use Microsoft Powerpoint to define terms on our spreadsheet software.  They will define the highlighted terms on pages 512 - 538.  Tuesday, the students will learn to move around in the spreadsheet program, Microsoft Excel.  Wednesday, the students will begin working on the lessons 110A on pages 519 - 521.  Thursday and Friday, the students will go online to GCIS Jr. and pick a career and create a monthly budget using the income for the job.  The students will then create a spreadsheet to lay the information out in easier to read terms and create a budget graph.  Monday, the students will design a survey to give to all Ms. Behar's classes.  Tuesday, the students will take the survey.  Wednesday and Thursday, the students will divide into small groups and enter the results of the survey into Excel and create graphs displaying the results for each question.  The graphs will be printed in color for display in the classroom.  Friday, the students will have a make-up day to catch up on any missing assignments.

 

8th Grade

MSBCS-BCSIII-1: Students will reinforce keyboarding techniques.  MSBCS-BCSIII-2: The students will demonstrate effective communication skills used to succeed in the business world.  MSBCS-BCSIII-4: The students will exhibit critical thinking.   MSBCS-BCSIII-3: The students will demonstrate the ability to problem solve.

Monday, the students will use Microsoft Word or Powerpoint (their choice) to define words on our database program.  The terms are on pages 549 - 578.  There are 15 terms throughout the pages.  Tuesday, the students will learn the differences between Microsoft Access, the database program, and the other Microsoft programs.  Wednesday, the students will create a simple database.  Thursday, the students will manipulate the data.  Friday, the students will create a report.  Monday, the students will learn to add the data from an Access file to an Excel file and create a graphic representation.  Tuesday, the students will learn to add the data from an Access file to a Word document and create business cards using the data.  Wednesday, the students will discuss topics for their final project.  The students will have to use at least three of the programs and one research source for their project.  Thursday and Friday, the students will begin work on their final project.
