Welcome to business and computer science class! Double Churches Middle School has PRIDE in our school!

November 9-13

6th Grade

MSBCS-BCSI-2: Students will identify and demonstrate computer maintenance and safety.

MSBCS-BCSI-4:  Students will develop keyboarding skills by touch with speed and accuracy.

Monday, the students will learn the B and Y keys.  Tuesday, the students will review the U, C, Right Shift, W, B and Y keys.  Wednesday, is a holiday.  There is NO school.  Thursday, the students will learn the M and X keys.  Friday, the students will learn the P and V keys.

7th Grade

MSBCS-BCSII-1: Students will reinforce keyboarding techniques.

MSBCS-BCSII-10 The student will demonstrate an understanding of ethics and potential dangers related to the use of the Internet. b) Evaluate websites to determine the accuracy of information and images.

MSBCS-BCSII-8:  The student will utilize web page design software.

Monday, the students will complete their webpage on a famous athlete and learn how to convert their Publisher document to a page viewable in Internet Explorer.  Tuesday, the students will begin a research project.  The will be researching their favorite snack food.  The students will answer the questions on the handout their will receive.  The students will bookmark each website they visit so they can continue their research on Thursday.  The students will write a one-page paper on Microsoft Word about their snack.  Friday, the students will review creation of a coverpage and reference page for their document.

 8th Grade

MSBCS-BCSIII-1: Students will reinforce keyboarding techniques.

MSBCS-BCSIII-2: The students will demonstrate effective communication skills used to succeed in the business world.

MSBCS-BCSIII-4: The students will exhibit critical thinking.

MSBCS-BCSIII-3: The students will demonstrate the ability to problem solve.

Monday-Friday, the students continue working on their recycled material craft project.  They have been given an instruction page on choosing a craft they can make a sample of at home.  The students are then to create a list of supplies needed to make their craft in Microsoft Word.  They are to create a how-to PowerPoint that will be presented to the class along with a sample of the craft.  They are to create a graph that shows the percentage of each material used in the project using Microsoft Excel.  Finally, the students are to create a how-to webpage or brochure using Microsoft Publisher.

Description: ELA6R2 ELA7R2 ELA8R2 The student understands and acquires new vocabulary and uses it correctly in reading and writing.
 
Description: ELA6W1 ELA7W1 ELA8W1 The student produces writing that establishes an appropriate organizational structure, sets a context and engages the reader, maintains a coherent focus throughout, and provides a satisfying closure.
 
Description: ELA6W3 ELA7W3 ELA8W3 The student uses research and technology to support writing.
 
Description: ELA6W4 ELA7W4 ELA8W4 The student consistently uses the writing process to develop, revise, and evaluate writing.
 
Grade: 6,7,8 Description: MSBCS-BCSI-11 Students will develop and apply basic desktop publishing skills.

Monday-Friday, the students are continuing research, taking pictures for their articles, and completing rough drafts of the articles.
