Welcome to business and computer science class! Double Churches Middle School has PRIDE in our school!  Due to changes in our schedule this year, this class is taught on an A/B day schedule.  Students take the class 3 days one week and 2 the next.

CAT Class - School Newspaper

Description: ELA6C1 ELA7C1 ELA8C1 The student demonstrates understanding and control of the rules of the English language, realizing that usage involves the appropriate application of conventions and grammar in both written and spoken formats.

Description: ELA6LSV1 ELA7LSV1 ELA8LSV1 The student participates in student-to-teacher, student-to-student, and group verbal interactions.

Description: ELA6LSV2 ELA7LSV2 ELA8LSV2 The student listens to and views various forms of text and media in order to gather and share information, persuade others, and express and understand ideas. The student will select and critically analyze messages using rubrics as assessment tools.

Description: ELA6R2 ELA7R2 ELA8R2 The student understands and acquires new vocabulary and uses it correctly in reading and writing.

Description: ELA6W1 ELA7W1 ELA8W1 The student produces writing that establishes an appropriate organizational structure, sets a context and engages the reader, maintains a coherent focus throughout, and provides a satisfying closure.

Grade: 6,7,8 Description: MSBCS-BCSI-11 Students will develop and apply basic desktop publishing skills.

Monday-Friday, the students will continue working on their book study of "The 6 Most Important Decisions You'll Ever Make:  A Guide for Teens." The students will work on the new article for the 3rd Issue of the Newspaper. 

6th Grade

MSBCS-BCSI-4:  Students will develop keyboarding skills by touch with speed and accuracy.

MSBCS-BCSI-6:  Students will use the Internet as a resource.

MSBCS-BCSI-12:  Students will utilize multi-media/presentation software.

Monday through Friday, the students will type lessons 4 and 5 in Microtype 4.0.

7th Grade

MSBCS-BCSII-1: Students will reinforce keyboarding techniques.

Monday through Friday, the students will work on lessons 4 and 5 in the Numeric Keyboarding Lessons.  

 8th Grade

MSBCS-BCSIII-1: Students will reinforce keyboarding techniques.

MSBCS-BCSIII-2: The students will demonstrate effective communication skills used to succeed in the business world:  a) Verbal Communication, b) Written communication.

Monday through Friday, the students will work on their review of keyboarding in Microtype 4.0.  They will complete lessons A, C, E, G, I, K, M, O, Q, and S in the Keyboarding Skill Builder section of the program.
