MRS. STRINGFIELD'S HOMEPAGE HAVE A WONDERFUL, MARVELOUS, FANTASTIC SUMMER BREAK! Welcome to Mrs. Stringfield's ESOL webpage. I work with the third, fourth, and fifth grade English Language Learners at Koontz Elementary School on Monday, Tuesday and Friday each week and all of the ELL students at Cleveland Elementary School on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I have been working in the ESOL program in Rowan County for eight years but am new to Koontz and Cleveland this year. The purpose of the ESOL program is to help the limited English students with their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. By working in small groups many of the students feel more comfortable expressing themselves. It also allows for additional time to work on specific skills that have not been mastered in the classroom. We will use textbooks called AVENUES to focus on reading and writing. Each grade level book has stories and skills that correlate with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. During the month of May we will be working on the following topics: Kindergarden: basic vocabulary related to SEEDS AND PLANTS WE USE EVERYDAY. We will also play games, sing songs and practice sounding out words as well as continue learning some beginning sight words. First Grade : WINGS AND THINGS Second Grade: Make some Noise! Third Grade: Bloom and Grow Fourth Grade: Watery World Fifth Grade: BRAIN GAMES Disclaimer: Linked sites are not under the control of the school district or its employees.
