Hi Parents, I hope you will plan to come to the first Parent Teacher Fellowship of the year tomorrow evening, Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 6 pm. After the meeting in the main auditorium, please come by the Dyslexia Center to see the Penmanship Notebooks your student has been working on and to chat for just a minute. I will have my Parent Teacher Conference schedule available if you want to sign up for a slot for the conferences coming up on September 14.
Calendar Dates
Midterm report cards will come home in the Friday folders on September 10.
School is dismissed at 1:00 pm on September 14 to allow time for Parent Teacher Conferences. After school care is available.
School pictures are Friday, September 17.

We were happy to welcome in the month of September in FCA's Dyslexia Center. Cooler weather is surely on the way!
The last three and a half weeks have allowed us to put a lot of procedures into place and iron out how we operate and transition between the main classroom and the dyslexia center room. The assignment pad system is working well from my perspective. I would be interested in knowing how you view the assignment pad system.
The second and third grade dyslexia students have been mastering lines from a reader's theater script we will be presenting to the three year old kindergarten on Friday morning. Research shows that repeated reading assists dyslexic readers in understanding and experience what it is like to read fluently. That fluency goal has been met and exceeded as the boys worked faithfully on their lines! Excitement is mounting among the students as performance day grows nearer. The possibility of an encore performance for parents is under consideration. Watch this space for more information on that.
Mastering the math facts has been a main focus of the students in the fifth grade math focus dyslexia program. Drill rings have been created and the speed drill scores are already rising due to faithful effort and multisensory methods of study.
Thank you for allowing me to work with your children. I understand they are your treasures, and appreciate the trust you put in me to be their teacher and tutor.
