Ms. Brooks' 4th Grade Class
Reading- We will be reading various forms of informational text. Reading strategies to be addressed include questioning, summarizing, noting details, making inferences, and evaluating. Students are encouraged to read a piece of literature of their choice at home for at least 20 minutes every day. The literature can be non-fiction books, magazines, brochures, catalogs, or even recipes. Lots of informational text such as these are included on the EOG.
Math- Students will be introduced to different strategies that will assist them in solving many problems. Discovering the probability of outcomes, and solving data related problems are examples of content area focus for this month. If internet service is available at home, check out Ms. Kellee Watkins' web page. It has many activities that will help reinforce skills taught in class.
Science- Students have been participating in a unit on rocks and minerals. They have experienced hands on experiments, watched video clips, and read informational literature on the topic. The final product will be a 5 paragraph essay, which will also be submitted as a state writing assessment.
