OBJECTIVES: Students will use; newspapers, magazines, the WWW and other acceptable newsworthy literature to analyze/summarize and classify International, National & Local news events

using the Five Themes of Geography:

1) location

2) place

3) human environment interaction

4) movement

5) regions

YOUR WEEKLY NEWSDAY will be graded as follows:

Ø  Label/State which theme from the Five Themes of Geography is covered

Ø  Write/Type 2 Paragraphs or more summary; 5-8 sentences in each paragraph

Ø  Article or copy and/or HTML/web address and facts from article are included

Ø  Facts are organized well; they are not jumbled or out of sequence from the way they are presented in the article

Ø  Proper use of language and grammatical conventions are applied

Ø  Facts are presented in your own words and have not been copied from the article

Ø  There are no run-on sentences (sentences that go on and on) or

any sentence fragments (not a complete thought)

Ø  Sports, Entertainment and T.V. articles WILL NOT be accepted. 

PLEASE limit article to current events in World/ National/Local News.

1 point Deductions will be made for the following items:
