Mr. McClary's Incredible 3rd Grade! Welcome to 3rd Grade! Eight weeks into the school year and things are off like a rocket! The students have been great this year, and we have studied many awesome things so far...such as Social Roles and Bones! This is only a fraction of the awesomeness that is 3rd Grade! We'll get in to Multiplication next week, and Muscles later next month! Please make sure your child is continuing to do their homework and reading/studying daily! What Are We Working On? Math - Multiplication; Grids and Graphs Science - Bones Writing - Main event Writing Reading - Topic, Main Idea, Supporting Details Dates to Remember October 31st - Begin Report Card Conferencing November 2nd - End Conferencing November 8th - Report Cards go home November 11th - Veteran's Day (No School!) Spelling Words 11/1 - 11/9
Vocabulary Words 11/1 - 11/9 Ancestors - People one's family comes from. Elders - People who are older and often wise, respected leaders in a group. Honor - To show special respect for. Imitating - Copying what someone does. Respect - Admiration or consideration. Homework and Tests In-class assignments are in bold 11/1 - 11/6
Homework calender may change daily, depending on in-class work. Please check agendas for complete list of homework. Rules of the Classroom Tickets! Don't worry, they're the good kind! In addition to the Strips Chart, I have refined the rules to make them easier to understand by the student and added a rewards system. If I see a student following the rules (raising hand to speak, doing their work, paying attention, etc...) I will reward them with a ticket. They may ‘cash’ in these tickets at any time for a reward (sticker, lunch with a buddy, read with a buddy, extra library time, etc...). Slip Chart 2.0 Keeping behavior in check since 1932!
Consequences 1.4! Only the Slippery may partake! Each slip is no longer considered a automatic consequence; rather a visual reminder for the student to stop their current actions. However, multiple slips (depending on the color) will merit a consequence. Once a student receives a certain amount of a same colored slip, they will receive a ‘Mark’, whihc will then dictate what consequence they will receive.
