Homework for the week of"

October 26, 2009

 

As part of the children's daily homework, they should be practicing their flashcards everyday (even on weekends), counting out loud (at least to 30), saying their alphabet, and recognizing the sound that letters make (phonics), AND recognizing numbers out of sequence.

Monday – Do the math worksheet(s) that went home yesterday.

Tuesday - Practice your new sight words every night by echo reading with your child for 5 minutes every evening. Continue to practice with the old words every so often. You’ll find that your child may know them. We will be doing assessments later this week.

Jump, little, look, make, me, my

 

Wednesday One to One Matching Directions:  Parent needs 15 pennies, and child needs 15 pennies. Count out 8 pennies; line them up in a row.  Have child count the pennies in your row, and then have him/her use their pennies to make a matching row. Do this 5 more times with different amounts. What amounts did you use? ___, ___, ___, ___, ___.  Have your child draw a boat here ______, if they did this, happily, with you. Have your child write their name here, if they did this with you. The children should begin practicing saying what the coins are.

 

Thursday – Practice tracing and writing some of your classmates’ names.  Practic4e writing the words on the back. If necessary, do this over several nights.
