![]() A NOTE TO PARENTS.... Please use this page as a resource to become informed and to communicate with me. Add your name to the "notify me" list and every time I update you will receive an e mail. Use the "e mail Miss Murph" button on the top of the page and e mail me with any question, comments, or concerns. Your child will have other homework assignments each night including spelling and vocabulary lists. Please be sure to initial your child's planner, AR log, and look over their homework nightly. If your child has not done quality work PLEASE HAVE THEM REDO THE ASSIGNMENT. ![]() We have been working hard to learn our multiplication math facts. PLEASE be sure to review these each night with your child. It would be a great idea to sort out the math facts that your child is struggling with and spend more time on these. Studying your child's math facts is a simple, but very valuable key to their future math success. Use down time like a car ride to quiz your child.
Writing In third grade we are working on narrative writing. You can help your child become a better writer by assisting them with the following points below. * Before your child writes anything have them plan. Even if this is not a written plan, discuss your child's ideas with them. * Be sure all high frequency words are spelled correctly. If they are not have your child correct them. (A high frequency word list can be found on the Third Grade Brochure entitled "The Big Leap".) * Encourage your child to write and see writing oppurtunities in the things you do. * Model good writing habits at home. * Have your child reread what he/she has written to be sure that it makes sense. * As your child reads point out good writing techniques the author uses. * Explain to your child that writng is a process. As they grow and practice their writing will improve.
Science/S.S./Technology All three of these subjects are extremely important and will be taught in an integrated fashion. This means we will work on individual skills at times, but the majority of instruction will also involve math, reading, and/or writing skills. Please refer to the quarterly outline that is sent home at the beginning of each quarter to see the specific objectives Have a great break!!!! |
