*Spelling words are assigned each Monday with an assessment given each Friday.  Please study the words each week!
*Reading or Math practice sheets are assigned as needed to help your child achieve the North Carolina standard course of study second grade learning essentials to mastery.
*Students who practice addition/subtraction math facts to memory demonstrate higher fluency when it comes to more advanced math problems (regrouping, multiplication etc..).  PLEASE have your child practice with flash cards at home to mastery.

Recognition and Incentives Designed To Help Your Child Reach Their Goals:

HUNDREDS CLUB - Your child can become a charter member when he/she passes three (3) timed math fact tests.  They must score an 80% on 100 mixed problems in a 5 minute time limit.

 Behavior Expectations

We will all come to school ready to learn. This means that we will come to school ready to respect and adhere to our collaboratively designed classroom behavior model.

            Our Collaborative Classroom Norms:
We speak to each other politely and respectfully - ALWAYS!

We work and play in our own "space" - we keep hands, feet and all body parts to ourselves at all times.

We complete our assignments (in class and at home) so that we will be prepared for third grade.

When our teacher is speaking, we will LISTEN and pay attention with our focus on learning.
We will raise our hand and wait for the teacher to call on us to ask our question.
