Happy Halloween! Have a safe night! Please feel free to come by my house if you are in the area! :-)
It was a busy week with Red Ribbon festivities and Halloween! They loved the using the laptops so we will try to use them again soon. :-)
*In our classroom next week:
Reading Workshop
- Our last connection: Test to World. This is a harder concept for them, so we will take it slow. It is connecting what we are reading to what happens in the world. For example, we will read a book about the Vietnam War Memorial in
Language: Pronouns. What they mean, when we use them, looking for them in our read to self.
Writer's Workshop: Sentence fluency, run-on sentences, sentence starters and adding descriptive words. They will be starting a new writing piece each day.
Spelling - another, came, come, work, three, must, must, because, does, part, even
Words spelled with ck: quick, truck, stock, trick, dock (already up on spelling city!)
Math- Monday and Tuesday we will play money games and review coins and their values. Our test over money will be on Wednesday. The next unit is called 'Mental Addition'. It will be a great life skill strategy for them. We will use the hundreds chart to add 2 digit and 1 digit numbers together without regrouping (carrying.)

Science - Matter continues with experiments to prove you can't get rid of matter, only change its form. Also, temperature changes matter, but not its mass.
Wednesday is PE. Friday is library.
