Look below for each week's activities!!

Library time is not only for checking out great books to read.  Our librarians provide lessons that enhance classroom instruction. Mrs. Hobart plays games that focus on sight words, reading comprehension and sentence structure. We tell stories and reinforce the concepts that stories have a beginning, middle and end. The Librarians work closely with the classroom teachers to provide students with continuity across the curriculum. We foster imagination and a sense of fun about reading.

For the older students, we provide skills in how to use a dictionary to look up definitions, the parts of a book, almanacs, encyclopedias and atlases. The students learn about each literary genre like historical fiction, biography, realistic fiction, poetry and more.  Extra help is given to older students when they need to research or find that "just right" book for a report or special project.
