Welcome to my English as a Second Language Page!

Grading:

Students are given a daily grade for brining their materials to class each day. The required materials are: Textbook; agenda; ESL notebook; dictionary; pen or pencil. Please make sure to bring your things each day.

Spelling tests/quizzes: In ESL, we tend to have more short quizzes instead of long tests. My spelling tests have three parts: spelling; definition; and part of speech. Spelling lists come from our reading, so be sure to study each night.

Classwork: All work completed in class is graded and returned.  Some activities, such as writing prompts, are assessed informally.

Class Participation: I expect each student to participate in class according to his or her abilities.

This Week in ESL I:

Our eighth graders are using their ESL class time as a study hall. Students are working on House of the Scorpion and finishing annual Access testing for LEP students.

Sixth graders are working on a unit in our Listening textbook. The theme is 'The Weekend" and they are learning about the simple past tense of familiar verbs.

This Week in ESL II

Students are working on Bram Stoker's Dracula. We are reading chapter nine and doing activities from this chapter.  Students will be working on annual Access testing.

This Week in ESL III

Students are taking annual Access testing.
