A Little About Miss Kirk
This is my very first year at Mt. Ulla and as a certified teacher. I graduated from Appalachian State University in December of 2009 with a Bachelor Science Degree in K-6 Elementary Education after student teaching in a kingergarten class at Shady Brook Elementary School in my hometown of Kannapolis, NC. Prior to my arrival at Mt. Ulla, I spent some time subbing in Kannapolis City Schools where I did some long term substitute teaching in kindergarten. I started the 2010-2011 school year off as a kindergarten teacher's assistant at Forest Park Elementary in Kannapolis. Then I was lucky enough to get offered this 5th grade position at Mt. Ulla. I've truly enjoyed my year so far and couldn't have picked a better group of kids to start my teaching career with. They are all gems and I will miss them so much when they leave for middle school.
I'm engaged to my high school sweetheart. His name is Travis and he is a PE Teacher at Woodrow Wilson Elementary in Kannapolis. Our wedding is less than 2 weeks away on June 18th and we are so very excited to start our future together. We just got our first puppy as a wedding gift to each other. Her name is Rosie and she is an 8 week old reddish brown miniature dachsund. She is our little doll and we already love her so much.
In my spare time, I also teach Zumba. Besides teaching elementary school, it is my favorite thing to do. I also love to travel, take pictures, go shopping, spoil my 2 year old nephew, and spend time with my family & friends.
HAVE A FANTASTIC SUMMER!
How can you succeed in Math?
1. Study at home and complete your homework every night. The main part of your homework grade is completing it and turning it in on time.
2. Be responsible for getting & completing any make-up work you have missed.
3. Keep all notes & math materials in a safe place. You never know when you might need to go back and look over them at a later time.
4. ASK FOR HELP! If you don't understand something, don't be afraid to come get help. My job is to help you understand.
5. Stay on task and participate in class activities. It's part of your participation grade.
