Please bring your yearbook to school on Thursday.  If you did not order a yearbook, you may create a signature booklet at home.

Cowboy Church Supply Round-Up

For those of you who may not know, Cowboy Church (a church in our community) was destroyed by fire this month.  It is unfortunate that this has occurred, however; this is a great opportunity for us to serve. 

At the end of the year, we often have school supplies left over.  These leftover supplies could assist the children’s ministry at Cowboy Church.  It’s really very easy!  If you would like your child’s additional supplies donated to help this church, please contact your child’s teacher.  

If you are interested in purchasing supplies or have unused supplies at home, please label the items “Cowboy Church” and send them to school with your child.  The 2^nd grade classrooms will also have bins for donated items.

Items needed:  crayons, markers, glue sticks, pencils, construction paper, colored pencils

Test:  Every Monday we will take a spelling pre-test.  The pre-test will consist of 13 spelling words plus five (5) bonus words.  Bonus words will not count against you.  It MAY add up to five additional points on your final grade.  Bonus words will be posted weekly.  If you make 105 on your pre-test, you are exempt from testing on Friday.  It is your "free time".  If you make below 105, you will have another opportunity to test on Friday. 

On the 6th week of each six weeks, we will review the previous five weeks through testing (four days of testing).  The words will be arranged in random order.  Homework will not be given on review weeks.

All students should have their addition families 1-18, their subtraction families 1-15, 0-5 multiplication families and division families (0-5) memorized.  Please encourage your child by testing their math fact skill through games, flashcards, online games, story problems, etc.  Each fact should be answered in less than 3 seconds.  Listed below are some websites you may want.  Thank you.

Reading: History: Southern States

I love mysteries!  I always wanted to be a detective when I was younger.  Guess what?  You get to be a Mystery State detective each week.  Each week I will post clues about the state or states we will be discussing.  If you can figure out the state(s) by Monday of each each and turn in the name of each state in written form, you will earn one incentive sticker per state.  Talk about an easy way to earn incentive stickers!

We are beginning a new science curriculum this year.  Woo hoo!  I am so excited!  Listed below are a few items we will need throughout the school year for our science labs.  If you are interested in providing one or more of these items, please email or text me.  All donations will be appreciated.  Listed next to each item is the chapter in which that particular item is needed.  I will weekly update the current chapter we are studying.  It will be posted below.  Again, thank you.

If you take pictures of any events in our class or in 2nd grade, here are the instructions for getting them sent to Ms. Ligon for the LCA yearbook.  We would love to have your pictures in the yearbook! 

1.                go to sw.taylorpub.com

2.                If you are a 1^st time user a ‘System Check’ screen will pop up to make sure your computer has recommended requirements for this program.  Click the ‘Proceed to StudioWorks’ bar on bottom right of screen.

3.                Now you are on the ‘StudioWorks’ screen.  Choose the ‘Public Upload’ bar.  This is the only option you have access to.

4.                The next screen will ask you for the ‘Project Number’.  Our number is 019030.  Click the Next>> bar.

5.                You are now at the image upload screen.  Follow the directions.  You may only upload 5 photos at a time.  This prevents overloading the system.  Please add a caption – this may be as simple as class/event (e.g. 5^th grade/Pine Cove).

6.                Once you are done click the ‘Exit Upload Wizard’  bar.
