Welcome to God's Little Kingdom "Let's grow together"
The transition from home life to school life is a big change for young children. Your child will have to adapt to a new environment and new people. Your child may have some difficulty separating or your child may separate with ease and confidence. However, you should spend some time discussing with your child his or her feelings about starting school at MPB. Here are a few suggestions you can do over the next few weeks and on the first day of school to help make your child's transition from home life to school life a smooth and successful experience. Enjoy the rest of the summer and I will see you on September 9.
Have conversations Talk to your child before the first day of school. Use simple sentences to describe what he or she can expect to be doing in the classroom. Read all about it Visit your local library and ask the librarian for children's books about starting school. Read together with your child and discuss his or her feelings. Be Confident Know what is normal It is completely normal for kids to struggle with the morning routine. This is the age when children begin to comprehend more about relationships, routines, and how to act. Sometimes they seek extra attention because they enjoy those last few minutes of love from you. Keep it simple Keep your goodbye routine short and simple, and do not linger. Be confident in your child's new surroundings, because they will pick up on your insecurities. Here are websites with additional information Scholastic for parents: http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/collection.jsp?id=104Reading Rockets for parents : http://www.readingrockets.org/article/16647 Here are some books about starting school for preschoolers Even though he can't bring his parents or dog along, Barnaby discovers that going to school doesn't mean he's alone.
