Mr. Shock Social Studies Orcas Team 8th Gr. Social Studies For Parents: If you ever have any questions or concerns about your child's education in my class, please feel free to contact me at any time! Availability by phone: My planning period is from 9:00 - 10:30 Mon-Fri, excluding Wednesdays (due to staff meetings). I can also be reached most days after school until at least 3:00. As a policy, I will not answer off-campus calls during class, as this disrupts the learning process for your child as well as his/her classmates. Please leave a voicemail and I will return your call when I can. Availability by email: My email address is: shockea@rss.k12.nc.us, and I will check this a few times during the day, and normally at least once in the evening. Other means of communication: Your child's agenda is the most important tool our team has to keep in contact with you! Please feel free to write notes to myself or your child's other teachers in the agenda. Additionally, please check your child's agenda each night for homework, upcoming events, or notes from us. For Students: Welcome to my webpage! Here is some information that will be important for you: - Remember that there is a quiz EVERY Friday! - You need to make sure you bring your binder, writing utensils (pencil/paper), and agenda to class EVERY day. - There will be quarterly projects due by the last day of the quarter. The first project must be turned in by October 29th - IF you have lost your project instructions, I have uploaded the files at the bottom. You can download them and print them off yourself (MS Word document - *.doc file) Important Information For All: We have a VERY limited supply of textbooks, and students wishing to take a book home must sign it out and bring it back the next morning. Several parents have asked me if an exception could be made for their child, so the child may have a book at home. Because of such a low number of textbooks, this simply is not possible. The textbook IS available online: http://ncjourneys.com with a username and password that was provided to your child at the beginning of the year on the class syllabus (see bottom of this page if you need a new syllabus). |
