Welcome to Physical Science--

Week of October 13-17, 2008:  Monday is a Staff Development Day for teachers. Students will be working the Section Review Questions for Chapter 15 on Tuesday.  Wednesday the PSAT is given to all 10th graders.  Thursday we will go over the Elements Test that you took last Friday and review the work you did in class on Tuesday.  Have a great week! 

Week of October 6-10, 2008:  Go BHS Wildcats!  We had a great week during the Homecoming Festivities.  Congratulations on the big win Friday night!  This week we are learning the element symbols by playing Element Bingo.  We will be classifying matter into three broad categories:  Elements, Mixtures, or Compounds.  We will be identifying characteristics of common elements such as Carbon, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Neon, Mercury, Sodium, etc.  Our next test will be on Friday, October 10th.  Notebook/Book check on Thursday, October 9th!  Have a good week! 

Important Dates:

October 13th:  Staff Development Day:  No school for students 

October 15th: 10th graders--PSAT (1-4th periods)

October 21st:  End of 1st Nine Weeks Grading Period

Week of September 29-October 3, 2008: Homecoming Week!!  Go Wildcats!  Because I was not here on Thursday (9/25) and Science test day is on Fridays--I have moved the test to Thursday(10/2/08) (Chapter 1--Scientific Methods)

Homecoming Assembly is scheduled for Friday (10/2) at 8:30 am in the BHS gymnasium.

Homecoming Pep Rally is scheduled for Friday at 2:45 pm that afternoon.

Spirit Week attire: 

Monday:  Wear blue shirts, Tuesday:  Imitation day, Wednesday:  Hawaiin Clothes, Thursday:  Cowboy/girl day, Friday: House colors (black/gold)

 

Topics of Interest in our Class:  Surface Tension, Cohesion, Scientific Method, Inquiry, How to make a paper clip float on water!!!  How to make milk and food coloring make a neat collage!!!  Fun, fun! 

 

This week in Physical Science we have been learning about the process of the Scientific Method.  We watched a neat episode of Mythbusters and hypothesized how many drops of water would one side of a penny hold.  The scientific method is covered in Chapter one of the physical science book.  Students should be reading their book and reviewing their notes daily in order to recall the information for our test which will be next Friday (September 26th).
