In just a few days we will mark the half way mark in our school.  Each day the children and I count how many days in 2nd grade and sometime this week (if we have no snow days) we will celebrate the 90th day of school.  Boy how time flies! In ReadingThis week in school we will read an old favorite "Officer Buckle and GLoria"  It is a wonderful story of friendship between a dog and a policeman.  Officer Buckle provides all the safety tips to his audience as his dog secretly acts them out!Our spelling words with week are ALL compound words!  Here they are:

cannot   pancake   maybe   baseball   playground   someone   myself   classroom   sunshine   outside   upon   nothing   into   inside   nobody   everywhere

In Grammar: this week we continue learning about the importance of capital letter.  This week we focus on titles for people.

In Writing we continue our persuasive writine assignment. In Math, this week we are learning about regrouping with addition.  We are using our base ten blocks and unit blocks to help understand this concept.

The children did a great job on their Social Studies Test and we are enjoying the traditions, interviews and family tree projects.

In Science we are learning about how plants and animals depend on each other.  We will be learning about the food web and food chain.  The children are really enjoying learning about the predator and prey role that animals play in the food web.

Have a great week, stay tuned for more information about our Valentines, Great American Book Report and Flat Stanley.  News to follow this week!
