Monday: Review similes, metaphors, hyperbole,  imagery &  mood                        

  *Discuss people that have impacted our feelings and memories                                                                                                                                                           *    * Analyze a given free verse poem about someone’s  grandma                                                                             *  Continue individual conferencing                           *  Compose a free verse poem to express feelings about someone                                                          + Use imagery, similes, metaphors & hyperbole          Homework:  Finish poem with illustration          

Tuesday:  Review homophones & analyze a poem for imagery                                                      *  Look up meanings of words                                   *  Write sentences using given homophones               *  Compose a free verse poem; use homophones for special effects                                            Homework: Finish poem with illustration                            

Wednesday:  Discuss how words and play on words have specific impacts on poems                *  Use the dictionary to look up meanings of words   *  Categorize words by commonalities                        *  Use related words in sentences; use them in their proper sense   

Thursday: Introduce the Quatrain (Did not have time last  week)          *  Analyze three given quatrains                                 *  Compose at least 2 quatrains       

Friday:  Introduce the Diamante poem              *   Review parts of speech for the Diamante    *  Compose a Diamante
