Ride the Wave into Miss Hodnett's Third Grade!!
We pledge to do our personal best, each and every day.
Welcome Hello and welcome to third grade in room 110! This is going to be an exciting, fun-filled year for all of us. I am very thrilled to be starting a new school year. We have a lot of learning ahead of us! Our classroom will be a place where a positive learning environment will enable us to grow socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. In the course of the school year an atmosphere will be provided that fosters problem solving skills, creativity, and communication skills. Expectations are high but with guidance, support, and well-defined goals everyone will succeed in third grade. When classroom expectations are high everyone will rise to meet them. A very unique community develops where we become risk takers, as well as active participants in the learning process. Communication between parents, students, and the teacher is integral to the development of a positive learning environment. When all parties are informed of rules, classroom expectations, and routines, a sense of trust is developed. This handbook has been developed to meet this important goal.

Homework Information I’m sure you are asking, “Do we have to have homework?” The answer to that question is, “Yes, absolutely!” There are many good reasons for having homework. Here are a few: To help establish good study habits To develop a sense of responsibility To practice and reinforce concepts and skills To complete work not finished in class It is very important for you to do your homework and hand it in the very next day. There are times we can get forgetful, or something unexpected comes up, and we may forget to bring our homework to school. You will have a second chance to bring your homework in. If you forget a second time you will lost homework points. Reading: Monday-Thursday- Read 15 minutes and log in reading log located in the red O.C.E.A.N. Folder Math: Students will have math homework 2-3 times a week. Math homework will depend on what we are studying and will reinforce skills we are learning in class. Math facts (addition and multiplication) should be practiced nightly. Spelling: Spelling homework will vary from night to night. Students will complete different activities with their spelling words to become familiar with them. ** Spelling tests will always be on Fridays** Please make sure you are taking the time to check over homework and make sure everything is complete BEFORE signing the agenda! ![]() *Class Wish List* Small bookshelves books, books, books copy paper or cardstock (white or colored) index cards treats for candy box prizes for prize box (dollar store, happy meal, etc) socks for dry erase board erasers Gift cards to buy classroom supplies: Target, Boarders, Barnes and Noble WalMart, Creative Teaching Aids, Staples, Office Max, Office Depot, etc
