           Non-Fiction Book Report Due

January is Maryland Reading Month. We have several activities planned for the children and hope to encourage them to be more independent readers. We will be having a day for the children to dress up as their favorite character from a book, a Name That Author contest each week, mystery readers sharing their favorite books, and a hallway display of "doors" dressed to celebrate book selections and authors that the children admire.

TO ALL PARENTS...

Please remember to check and return you child's Thursday folders.

Class News

We will be continuing our math unit and will begin working with decimals and place value to the tenths, hundredths, and thousandths. Our timed test will be on multiples of 0,1,2, and 5. If possible, your children may want to explore the Everyday Math Games on the computer. There are several games that will reinforce the skills we are learning in the classroom.

Homework pads must be signed by a parent or guardian each

night.

Our class will be going outside each day, weather permitting, so

please make sure your children are dressed appropriately.

Helping Your Child Read At Home

In an effort to encourage your child's participation in

reading at home, we will be participating in the Book-It

program again this year. When your child returns their

calendar signed by themselves and you acknowledging

that they have completed the assigned reading.
