April 29th, 2011 - The Mi'Kmaq Studies class recently finished watch "The Chiefs". They have also completed notes on the Ipperwash Crisis. Students have a permission form to be signed/returned by Monday, May 2nd, 2011 so as to watch the movie on this topic. They are also to bring in a stick so as to make a talking stick (this is going to be a project grade). Additional to this, the students are to bring in $10.00 for their quillwork project scheduled to occur on May 9th. The MS 10 class is presently working through a series of chapters on various topics as an overview to the entire course. So far we have examined Chapter 1: "The Story Begins", Chapter 2: "Meet the Mi'Kmaq of Yesterday and Today", Chapter 3: "From Legends to Modern Media", Chapter 4: "The Evolution of Mi'Kmaq Education". The class has started Chapter 5: "The Challenge of Identity" and will continue to examine this tomorrow in class. The students will be doing various projects throughout the semester. These will require some monies from home to assist in covering the cost of the supplies. Please inquire of your son/daughter/ward in the upcoming days as to when and what amount is due in. |
