Kindergarten
Creation of performance pieces incorporating concepts of melody, rhythm, movement and interpretation.

1st Grade
Creation of performance pieces incorporating concepts of Do, Re, Mi (melody), rhythm,movement and interpretation. Iconic notation/musical symbols

2nd Grade
Continue music of Canada/Mexico. (Do, Re, Mi, Sol, La)
Beginning notation

3rd Grade
Continued recorder instruction in preparation for concert on May 20. Entire diatonic scale (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do)

4th Grade
Colonial music/dance
Absolute pitch names (treble/bass clefs) building on diatonic scale

5th Grade
Creation of performance piece incorporating note reading, melody, vocal and rhythmic skills including barred Orff instruments. Review of absolute pitch names (treble/bass clefs)

6th Grade
Creation of Renaissance era performance piece incorporating note reading, melody, vocal and rhythmic skills including barred Orff instruments. Renaissance dance.
Music for the class Greek drama presentation on May 29.

7th Grade
Group music history projects. Creation of performance piece incorporating all music skills mentioned in other grades and appreciation for style (period of history).
Music theory review (including scales, key signatures)

8th Grade
Creation of performance piece (Lean on Me) including all musical skills mentioned above. Exploration of careers in music.
