Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

 

 

1.  Required Materials.  Bring the following to class each day.

    1. Textbook (with cloth cover)
    2. No. 2 Mechanical Pencil with eraser
    3. College Ruled White Loose Leaf Paper
    4. Graph Paper
    5. Ruler
    6. Binder  and dividers
    7. Algebra 2 Notetaking Guide (Workbook $2.00) Teacher will provide these after school begins.
    8. Calculator (TI 83, TI 83 Plus, or TI 84)
    9. 1 ream of copy paper

 

  1. Tardiness.  You are expected to be in your desk with the required materials when the second bell rings.  If you are not in your seat, you may be marked late.

          1st period tardies will report to detention. All other tardies will report to detention the following day.

 

  1. Classroom Behavior.  Your responsibilities in this class are:
    1. To be prepared and on time for class.
    2. To use your time wisely.
    3. To follow directions the first time they are given.
    4. To sit in your assigned seat daily.
    5. To not cheat on a test or quiz.  Cheating will not be tolerated.  If you do cheat, you will get a 0 for that test or quiz.
    6. To R-E-S-P-E-C-T everyone in the classroom.     
    7. To follow all school rules as well as classroom rules.

 

  1. Consequences.
    1. Verbal warning
    2. Reassignment of student’s desk.
    3. Phone call to parent/guardian explaining student’s behavior
    4. Parent/Guardian and Teacher conference
    5. Disciplinary Referral

 

  1. Grades.  Grades are divided as follows:

                            15% Daily Assignments

                            25% Quizzes

                50% Tests

                10% Participation

 

 

           

  1. Absences and Make-up Work.  You are expected to make up any work missed due to an absence.  It is your responsibility to find out what work you missed.  You will be given two (2) days to make up all assignments.  It is also your responsibility to make arrangements with the teacher for making up this work.   If you have an excused absence, you will be allowed only two (2) days to make up a missed quiz or test. 

If you fail a test, you will be given the opportunity to re-test provided  that you have spend time with me during tutorials reviewing.  If you fail a re-test, you will not be allowed to take any other re-tests for the remainder of that nine week period.  There are no retakes on quizzes, and low assignment grades can only be revised during tutorial time or in class...not at home!  You will be allowed on 2 retakes per nine week period.

 

  1. Math Notebook

Your math notebook will contain three sections:  notes, assignments, and Tests/Quizzes.  For each quarter you will receive a single notebook grade.  I may randomly collect your notebooks to provide you with feedback.

Your math notebook is an organizational tool for you to keep all of your math papers together so they are easy to access and refer to.  It will also provide you with an additional resource to help you with your homework and study for tests.

                 teacher will provide a hard copy when requested.
