InView: Test of Cognitive Abilities

Age Group:  3rd Grade

Test Date:  Thursday, September 16, 2010

Age Group:  5th Grade

Test Date:  Thursday, September 16, 2010

Cognitive abilities tests, administered under standardized conditions, are used to obtain accurate and objective information about students' academic potential.  "Standardized" means that the tests are always administered with standard testing procedures that indicate the exact test directions, time limits, and scoring criteria to be used.  Standard testing procedures ensure that the testing conditions are the same for all students.

The InView assesses constructs such as logical thinking ability, abstract thinking skills, and verbal and quantitative reasoning at Grades 2 through 12.  Measurement of cognitive skills can be used to gauge Gifted and Talented students' abilities, and to identify students who may have special needs.  The InView, when compared to achievement data, helps teachers develop instructional plans to fit the individual academic needs of students.
