Hello, and Welcome to 2012!
Can you believe we are halfway through the school year? It seems to have flown by. I trust you had a wonderful holiday break and a safe and Happy New Year! FYI: Due to a lack of interest & time, we did not host a school Reading Fair this year. We will offer the opportunity again next school year and hopefully there will be more of an interest. Remember that our annual fundraiser, the Scholastic Book Fair, is scheduled to run starting this week, January 26-February 3, 2012. I need a host of volunteers to help me during the sale (not January 26-27, which are faculty/staff preview days). Please let me know if you will be available to help any time during the sale. Below, I have listed what day each Language Arts teacher is bringing her class, in case you'd like to volunteer on the day your student is attending the fair: Monday, January 30th, 8:30AM-3:15PM 7th grade teachers Sumrall and Powe (her 2nd and 3rd block classes only), 6th grade teachers Willis and Ladner, 8th grade teacher Lanyon and multi-grade teacher Graves will bring classes today. Tuesday, January 31st, 8:30AM-3:15PM 8th grade teachers Morrison and Weathers, 7th grade teachers Powe (1st block only) and Pitts, 6th grade teacher Whitney Clark and multi-grade teacher Berry will bring classes today. Wednesday, February 1st, 8:30AM-3:20 PM 8th grade teachers Dewease and Piland, 7th grade teachers Wall and Wright, and 6th grade teacher McDonald will bring classes today. Thursday, February 2nd, 8:30AM-3:25 PM 8th grade teacher Tammy Walters, 6th grade teachers Standland, Hall & Fagan, and 7th grade teacher Langham will bring their classes today. Your child will get a Sneak Peak pamphlet (Monday classes will get them Friday; other classes may not get them until next week) that tells the exact time their class is attending the fair. Friday, February 3rd, 8:30-noon, make-up day Students come in 30 minute increments by team to make purchases. I have 2-3 teams in here at a time to make sure everyone gets a chance to come that has money to come. I REALLY need volunteers for this day to help with crowd control, tally students' tickets, and help pack up the fair. I am also soliciting contributions from local businesses/sales representatives to use as door prizes for both teachers and students. Contact me if you have donations please!
