Welcome to 6th Grade! My name is Mrs. Boulai and I am your child's math teacher. Let's start off the school year right by emailing me with any questions or concerns. Here are a few strategies to help your child excel in math: · Check your child’s agenda every night. · Look through your child’s binder and help them keep it organized and clean (this is also an excellent way to see the math concepts covered in class). · If your child tells you they have no homework or have already completed their homework, PLEASE check it over! · Examine your child’s homework to ensure it is complete and neat. · Ensure your child completes practice problems at home in preparation for quizzes. · Review interims and discuss the scores your child earns. · Encourage your child to seek morning help (7:50-8:15), if needed. Also encourage your child to attend SMART lunch sessions (math remediation during lunch) on Mondays and Wednesdays when I do not have lunch duty. ***Please note that 6th grade track 2 will utilize a blackboard website soon. Your child will bring home a letter stating when this change goes into effect.
Homework for the week of 7/11-7/15 Monday- Get math handout signed and have a parent complete first day packet paperwork Tuesday- Create a flashcard for exponents and complete page 3 in your math workbook Wednesday- Create a flashcard for Order of Operations and complete page 4 in your math workbook Thursday- Order of Operations handout Friday- Create a flashcard on the four steps in problem solving and complete problem solving handout. *** Quiz #1 will be given on 7/22. |
