Mrs. Piland's English and History Class

The fourth and final nine weeks is here! We will be wrapping up our study of American history by reading about westward expansion, and of course, by learning about the American Civil War. Students will be reading the novel Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt so that they can get a more intimate glimpse into this part of our nation's history. I have copies of this novel for students to use, but I will also send home information about the novel in case you would like to purchase a copy of your own.
In English students will be studying parenthetical expressions, reviewing commonly misused irregular verbs, and analyzing how clauses are used in sentences.
There will be several special events this nine weeks for our 8th graders, so please keep checking back for updates!
