Welcome to Mrs. Cornett's
5th Grade Keyboarding SchoolNotes Page!
Open Mac Lab: Monday, Feb. 1st and Thursday, Feb 4th until 3:30pm. Students who would like to work to pass Mission 15 "the first time" are welcome to attend. If your child is attending please send me an email or written note so I can plan accordingly.

Students who are not finished are encouraged to come to the Mac Lab at recess until they have passed the Mission so that they will not be behind in 6th grade computer class next year.

"Click" Software Orders Due Thursday, February 4th. Ifyou would like to order some educational or entertainment software forcomputers or popular game systems, follow the directions below or sendin the order form with your money (cash or check).

To order online:

  1. Go to the Scholastic Clubs Web site: www.scholastic.com/parentordering

  2. Log in using the Class User Name and Password below:

  1. Browse the titles with your child, and place your order with your credit card- it is completely safe and secure.

  • Your order will come to me, and your credit card payment will go directly to Scholastic's secure server. There's no need to send money to school.
  • After I submit the entire class' order to Scholastic, your order will be delivered to my classroom. I will give the items to your child to take home. (If it is a surprise, email me and I will call you instead of giving the items to your child.)

Folder Check- Be sure all your papers are in the prongs of your folder, in correct order:
  • Key Placement Study Sheet
  • Hands paper
  • Names of Symbols chart
  • Get Ready to Begin Keyboarding
  • How to Prevent Injuries
  • Sample Log
  • 5th Grade Keyboarding Course description
  • Lined paper if you have some pages that have writing on them. If they are blank, take them out and put them in another folder or binder so we aren't wasting paper.
  • Tests #1-6 in order
  • Symbols Review Test
  • Test #7-12
  • Symbols Review Final
  • Pretest Printout
  • Post Test Printout

Practice Logs are due every Wednesday: Students are to practice keyboarding for 15 minutes EVERY night, with their keyboard covered. After the practice session they fill out the log for the day. Tuesday evening, they are to have a parent/guardian sign the log form.(Note: If there is a day that the student can't practice, they should write the reason on the log form.) Students who are 2 or more missions ahead of "target" may reduce their practice time to "5 minutes a day" OR THREE "15 minute sessions" a week.

Key Placement Tests every Wednesday: Students will be given a blank paper keyboard. They are to write the letters we have learned in the proper places. Starting with Test #2, they are also to write the names of the "symbols of the week" (spelling counts).
