Social Studies:

We have completed our first unit and the grades have been entered in the grade book. Your child has the graded quiz in his/her notebook in order to share with you.

August 29- September 1

We will begin our second unit "Effective Citizenship" Students will be learning about the Bill of Rights and how they came to be. We will be using a Social Studies Weekly Reader in order to gain information about the history of the Bill of Rights. Several video streaming footages will be shown from the Georgia Public Broadcasting Site in order to provide a more background information. Students will complete an activity requiring them to label and identify the first 10 admendments. They will also be asked to summarize the Bill of Rights in their own words. Students will be given a handout on Monday in order to help them with this activity. This unit will also address imigration and voting rights. We will spend approx. 3 weeks on this unit. The students will have self-created study guides by the end of the second week. During our third week, we will review in class using WebQuest, SmartBoard Activities, and Flashcards.
