Language Arts:  We will be working with the letters Pp and Cc .  Our new sight words are: I, like and is. 

Math:  We will be working on postional words and begin Patterning. 

Science: Making Decisions based on information.

Social Studies: Identifying purpose for having rules.

I will be sending out October's  Scholastic book order in the Rocket folder on Wednesday, October 1, 2008.  Please return order forms and payment by October 10, 2008.  This month if you would like you can also order the Scholastic Books online.  If you would like to order your scholastic books online here are the directions to do so, or you can choose to send in the order form.

Scholastic Online Book Order:

1.  Go to : www.scholastic.com/parentordering

2.  Type in class user name:  abbottkindergarten

3.  Type in password:  kindergarten

4.  Place your order and pay with your credit card.

5.  Your books will be delivered to the school with the rest of the October book order and sent home with your child.

On October 10, 2008 our 1st 6 Weeks Report cards will go home.  If you would like to have a parent-teacher conference after the 1st 6 Weeks, I am sending  home a form to sign up, in the homework folder on Monday, October 6, 2008.   Please return  the form to me by Friday October 10, 2008.  I will send out your conference times in the Rocket Folders on Friday, October 10, 2008. 

On October 13th, 2008, we will begin administrating the DRA and Universal Screening assessments.  The DRA measures your child's reading skills and the Universal Screening measures your child's math skills.  Please ensure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a good breakfast.

On October 16, 2008 our school will be holding a mock election for the President of the United States.  Each child will get to vote. 

Picture Day is Friday, October 17, 2008.  More information will go home soon, in your child's Rocket Folder.

Thank you to all the Parents who have sent in Box Tops!  Please keep sending them in.  Our first submission date is October 31, 2008.   

If you send in lunch money with your child please label the money(preferably in an envelope) with your child's first and last name.
