Welcome to Mrs. Amber's Terrific Twos Class Page

Hello Parents,

It is hard to believe that we are down to the last three weeks of school! What a joy it has been to teach and get to know your children this year. I have enjoyed watching not only their little personalities grow but their knowledge and affections for the Lord grow as well. Each of you have some smart little cookies and I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for them in the years to come!

This week we will be looking at:

Bible Lesson: Honor your Mother and Father

“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you." Exodus 20:12

"Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long at it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Deut 5:16

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.
Ephesians 6:1-3

Hello Parents!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I'm really looking forward to honoring all of the mommies this Wednesday at Muffins With Mom! Mom, when you bring your child to school you'll get to stay and be pampered until 9:15 :)

This week we are learning about:

Letter: Ss (seasons, senses, sea, sun)

Number: 8

Amber Lamb Story: Amber Is Afraid Of The Storm

Bible Story: The Good News

This week we will sum up everything we've learned the past few weeks in Jesus' death and resurrection. The "Good News" is  that by grace, Jesus died in your place, absorbing the Father's wrath toward sin. He defeats death, and gives you His righteousness so that you can now stand before Him blameless, righteous, free from sin! As far as the east is from west, so far does He remove our sins from us! What once was dead, He has made alive! Not only that but He adopts us into His family. You are a son/daughter of the King. The King who rules over everything, is good and does good for His children. I couldn't think of better new than that!

Hello Parents!

March is here and with that comes the transition from winter to spring! We're gearing up for the season change with a lot of bugs and flowers on our "God's In Charge Of Everything" bulletin board while also talking about how God is definitely in charge of everything.

This week we're reading about the prodical son from Luke 15. During storytime yesterday we re-inacted the story with one of the children being the boy who runs away and eats with the piggies (of course they thought this was funny). When I said that the boy decided to go home when he realized how he was eating from a pig sty when his father is rich, I asked, "Do you thing his daddy was mad and the boy was in a lot of trouble for a long time? Or do you think his daddy ran to him, hugged him and told him how much he loved him?" They so sweetly answered, "He loved him and hugged him!"

God is our Father who can't stop loving His children. We can never run away too far for Him not to accept and love us. I love verse 24 that says, "'For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.' And they began to celebrate." The prodical son was assumed to be dead but is now united with his family. This is such a sweet picture of how we were dead in our sins but Christ has made us alive! We are adopted into His family as sons and daughters of the King! We have so much to celebrate in Christ!

"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ - by grace you have been saved" Ephesians 2:4-5

We're also learning:

Hello Parents!

We had such a good time celebrating God's love for us this past week at our "Jesus Loves Me" party. We talked about how God is so good and how He's our Great Provider.

This week we'll be reading about Peter walking on water and how we always need to keep our eyes on Jesus. Again we'll be reminded to remember His Never Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love for His children.

We'll also be reviewing:

Letters: Mm and Nn

Number: 6

and we'll be having a special theme this week of "Children Around The World"

Here are a few of the verses we read together last week in class. Praying for all of you as you begin your week tomorrow!

"See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are."

1 John 3:1

"As the Father has loved Me, so I have loved you." John 15:9

"So that the world may know that You sent Me and loved them even as You loved Me." John 17:23

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Parents!

I hope you are all having a wonderful week so far.

WEEK 19 - January 23 & 25

Bible Lesson:

Monday we looked at Jesus and the woman at the well from John 4:7-30. We talked about how people can look to things like (in kid terms)toys and candy but how those things will never satisfy. Jesus is the ONLY one who satisfies. God is GOOD!

I love how this story points to her thirst - this woman is thirsty! Jesus shows her that how she was trying to satisfy her thirst wasn't working and if she turned to Him, she would never thirst again.

Tomorrow we will read about the nobleman's son from John 4:46-54. An official came to Jesus and asked Him to heal his son. Jesus challenges the man to believe without seeing signs and wonders and when he does Jesus heals his son. All the miracles Jesus did were to point back to Him and that God is in charge of EVERYTHING!

Donuts With Dad!

Dads, don't forget about "Donuts With Dad"February 1st (next Wednesday) from 8:45to 9:15. I hope you all can be there!

Look forward toseeing you tomorrow!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week we're having fun preparing for our "Happy Birthday Jesus!" celebration. We're talking about the birth of Jesus and how He came to rescue us by coming as a baby, living the perfect life, dying in our place and conquering sin and death. It's been fun seeing all the kids getting excited to celebrate Jesus' birthday. They're also very excited to sing in our Christmas Program next Tuesday night! They're doing so well singing all the songs together. Don't forget to drop off your child in our classroom at 6:15. We'll try to take a class picture before the program starts.

This week we are also reviewing the letters: F, G, H and the number 4. We're also having a little side theme of Old McDonald's Farm and will be taking home a coloring book on Wednesday.

Hope you're all having a great week and a blessed holiday season!

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What a great week we've had so far! I hope you all had a relaxing and fun Thanksgiving. Now that we're back at school we're jumping right into the Christmas season. We sang our first Christmas songs yesterday in class, "Joy To The World" and "Go Tell It On The Mountain" and talked about how this season is a time of celebrating Jesus coming as a baby so that He could live the perfect life, die in our place and rise from the dead. Jesus is the BEST gift we have been given.

Our Bible story for the week is "Jonah And The Big Fish." Throughout the story we talked about how God is in charge of EVERYTHING. God sent the storm that ended up getting Jonah thrown overboard; God sent the fish to swallow him; God protected Jonah inside the fish and God caused the fish to spit Jonah back out. Jonah chose to obey God and instead of running away from Him, he now ran to Him. Jesus is our Deliverer, our Rescue and He is in charge of everything!

This week we're also looking at the letter "H" with "Homer Horse" and we're counting to the number 4.

Don't forget our Christmas program is right around the corner on the evening of Tuesday, December 13th and our "Happy Birthday Jesus" celebration will be Wednesday, December 14th. More information to come!

Hope you all are having a great week!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello parents! I'm so excited for our Thanksgiving Feast this Wednesday! We've had a lot of fun talking about things we're thankful for as a class this past week. We've been working on a lot of crafts that the kids will get to take home this Wednesday. Our actual feast will be provided by LCA (no charge for the 2's!) with a fun dessert from Rachael, Livvy's mom. We will continue talking about how God is our Provider and things that they like and hence, can be thankful for. I am thankful for all of you moms and dads and how your children have been a blessing to me this year. Special thanks to Rachael for being the room mom and for all of you being so willing to help and give of your time and talents.

I will be sending out pictures from our pajama party via email and will be sure to take a lot at our Thanksgiving Feast this week!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Parents! This week we will be diving into the life of David as a shepherd and a warrior which will lead us into next weeks story when he becomes King. One of the verses we will be looking at comes from 1 Samuel 16:7, "For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart."

David was a shepherd, (in class we will call him "the teeny, weenie true king") but when God looked at him, He saw a king. Jesus looks at us in the same way - when we place our trust in Him, He doesn't see us for all our sin but He sees the righteousness of Christ poured out onto us. We are sons and daughters of the Great King! We will see that "God is Good!"

On Wednesday we will read the story of David and Goliath. We will see David's confidence in the Lord and how God protected him, giving him the victory. God had saved His people from the Philistines through David. David was a hero and many years later, God would send another young hero to fight for His people. Christ does come and conquers sin and death to save His children. He is the God of victory! Again, God is Good!

I hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend! Here is an overview of what's to come this week:

Bible Story: "Hannah Prays For A Son" and "Samuel talks to God"

Letter: Dd  Dexter Donkey

Number: 1

Special Story: Button Bear Visits The Dentist

This Wednesday we will have a bible story in the morning and then another in the afternoon since there was no school Monday. Our main focus will be on "God wants to talk with us!" The story of Hannah comes out of 1 Samuel 1 where Hannah is deeply distressed and weeps bitterly to the Lord.We see later in verses 19 and 20 that God answers her - He remembers our prayers, He doesn't forget. It's all in His timing, not our own. God gave Hannah the son she had asked for, Samuel. Later (1 Samuel 3) we see God speaking to Samuel and Samuel talking with Him. God awakens him not only from his sleep but He awakens him spiritually and reveals Himself to Samuel.

God wants to talk with us. He created us to be dependent on Him and wants us to know Him in a deep, personal way. I've described it to my kids at home simply like this:

How does someone become your friend? If someone is your friend, you have to talk with them and get to know them. It's the same way in our relationship with God. Jesus has made that relationship possible by being the perfect sacrifice, dieing in our place and giving us His righteousness that we may be able to stand holy, perfect, spotless, blameless in front of a holy God. You have to talk to Him to have a relationship with Him and the best part is that He hears you - He knows your heart, He knows what you're thinking and how you're feeling and He responds.

What I'm praying this week for your child is that there would be such a trust in their Perfect, Heavenly Father that they would start to talk with Him (if they're not already) not only when they're angry or sad but also when they're happy, recognizing His blessings in their life and that they would overflow with thankfulness to Him.

I just wanted to encourage you as parents in our job of laying the kindling and then asking and pleading with the Lord to ignite it. Keep striving in prayer! God wants to talk with us!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Parents! I hope you all were able to enjoy the fall weather we had this weekend - what a nice start to October!

This week we will explore the letter C and keep looking at a few different shapes: squares, rectangles, circles and triangles.

Our Bible stories for the week include "Joseph and the Coat of Many Colors" (Genesis 37) and "Baby Moses ' (Exodus 2:1-10). The story about Joseph and his brothers is one of my favorites. As an adult it is very comforting to know that although Joseph was faced with a VERY difficult life, God never once left him. God had a plan. We see that we can trust Him and cling to Him no matter what circumstances we're given. God is enough and He is always for the good and joy of His children. Genesis 50:20 says, "As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good."

In class we will be emphasizing that God is in control of EVERYTHING! It has been such a joy to hear all the kids say "EVERYTHING" together! We will also be emphasizing how like Joseph, Jesus would leave His home and His Father; how like Joseph, people would want Jesus dead; how like Joseph, Jesus would be punished even though He had done nothing wrong. But just like Joseph forgave his brothers, Jesus forgives us. God would use all of the bad things that happened to Jesus to do something good: to forgive the sins of the whole world!

We will again see that God is in charge of EVERYTHING in the story of "BabyMoses". Even though Pharaoh commanded that every Hebrew baby boy was to be killed, God protected Moses.

I hope you all have a great week! Here are our Bible verses for the month of October that we will be going over in class during memory time. Feel free to review them at home too!

"As for God, His way is perfect." Psalm 18:30

"The Lord is my Shepard." Psalm 23:1

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Parents,

This weeks bible story comes out of Genesis 24, "A Bride For Isaac." We will see that God is in charge of EVERYTHING and how He led Abraham's servant to Rebekah, the woman God appointed for Isaac to marry. When Abraham's servant prayed to the Lord and asked God to show him who was to be Isaac's wife by certain events, God responded and showed him precisely who the woman was. The story is such a good reminder of God's faithfulness, that He is active in our lives and that He is a God of detail. Not only that but He listens to His children when we pray to Him and He responds!

Letter: Review of Aa & Bb - Reviewing our songs: Alexander Alligator and Betsy Bee

Colors: Review of ALL colors

Reminder: Individual School Picture Viewing and Purchasing is this week, Septmeber 26-28th, 8:30-10:30am and 12:30-3:00pm

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HelloParents,

Here's a look at what we will be covering this week in class:

Colors- Monday: Reviewing Orange and Purple

             Wednesday: Reviewing black and brown

Letter Of The Week: Bb - Bible, Bee, Bus, Button Bear

Bible Lesson - Monday: Abram & Lot  (Genesis 13)

Wednesday: Isaac, the Promised son (Genesis18:1-15, Genesis 21:1-7)

On Monday we will read about Abram. Abram was Lot's uncle and right after they part ways, God tells Abram that his descendants will be so many that they will be as the dust of the earth. God was getting ready to do something about all the brokeness and sin in the world. He was going to make all the wrong things right and He was going to do it through a family. Abraham didn't quite understand that God was talking about His Rescue Plan. God was going to rescue the world through Abraham's family - one of his great-great-great-great grand-children would be Jesus, the Rescuer.

We will talk about how God changed Abram's name to Abraham and how through faith in Jesus Christ we are the children of Abraham that God was talking about. Through it all we will see again how God is in charge of EVERYTHING!

On Wednesday, we will read about Abraham and Isaac. Abraham loved God and showed his love for Him by doing what He said. Abraham liked giving presents to God called sacrifices and they were a way to say "I love You." One day, God asked Abraham to give Him his son, Isaac. Abraham didn't understand but he knew that God was his Father who loved him, so Abraham trusted God. As we know, God didn't let Abraham kill his son but provided another sacrifice in Isaac's place just like God's given us Jesus to die in our place; a wonderful present; God's way to tell us, "I love you."

I'm looking forward to another wonderful week with your children! I hope you all are doing well and am praying for each of you and your kids!

In His Love,

Mrs. Amber

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Parents,

As we get ready for our third week of school I'm excited to have our first Monday together! This Monday we will be looking and working with the colors purple and orange and our Wednesday colors will be black and brown. I'm also excited to start learning our alphabet; identifying each letter and learning the sounds each one makes. This week we start with the letter A. A is for apples and ark and AlexanderAlligator just to name a few!

Our bible lesson will be about Noah and how he obeyed God. This story always reminds me of how great God's love is for His children. How? Because Noah loved and trusted God, so God poured His grace out on Noah and saved him from death and destruction. It reminds me now that Jesus would have come and lived the perfect life and died the perfect death - conquering death and sin, giving me His righteousness so that I could stand blameless before God- even if  I were the only one.

God is holy - completely perfect and separate from sin. It is right and good for Him to be angry with all that defames His Name and to punish sin (example: wiping out everything but Noah, his family and a few animals in the flood). The GREAT news is that God's just anger and wrath toward sin was poured out and fully satisfied in the death of Jesus! God is right to punish sin, and He punished it fully and forever in His Son.

"For Christ suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God"  1 Peter 3:18

As we read the story of Noah and the ark in class we will talk about how:

1. Our hearts are sick with sin

2. Jesus came to save sinners

3. God is Good!

Don't forget that Teddy Bear Portraits will be this Wednesday! I will send home the order form with your child on Monday.

See you all tomorrow!

Mrs. Amber

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a relaxing and fun holiday weekend! Our first day of school last week went very smoothly. All of the kids were great listeners and followed directions so well! I feel very blessed to have each of them in my class.

This week we will be looking at Adam and Eve and how sin entered the world because of their disobedience to God. Sin had come into God's perfect world and God's children would always be running away from Him with hearts sick with sin. But God loves His children too much to let the story end there. In spite of everything God would love His children with a Never Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love. By His grace, God has made a way through Jesus for us to be brought near to Him again! Just like God gave Adam and Eve animal skins to cover them when they were sent out of the garden, God has given us the covering of Jesus. With all of our bible stories we will continue to look at how they all point to Jesus, our Rescue.

At the end of class we will review what we've learned so far (you can go over these at home too):

1. God created ALL THINGS!

2. Our hearts are sick with sin

3. Jesus came to save sinners!

This week we will also be focusing on the colors yellow and green and reviewing red and blue. We will also have a new Amber Lamb story and continue the fun we had last week in the Wiggle Room! Next week we are going to start learning all about the letters of the alphabet starting, of course, with the letter A.

I'm looking forward to another great week!

Mrs. Amber

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Parents,

What a wonderful time I had meeting all of you and your children today at open house. I'm very excited for our first day of school,  August 31, when I will start to get to know your children better! On Wednesday, we will be looking at God as our incredible Creator, getting more familiar with the story of creation and talking about God's great love for His most beloved creation of all: us!

The colors we will be working on are red and blue and I will also introduce "Amber Lamb" which is our lamb puppet that will be an interactive teaching tool in learning the alphabet.

I hope you all have a great week and don't forget there's no school Monday, September 5th. See you all on Wednesday!

Some additional verses you can read over your children at home this week are:

Genesis 1:1-4; Psalm 19:1-3; Psalm 24:1; Psalm 139:13; Psalm 148:1-5;

Romans 1:20; Colossians 1:15-17
