Class Expectations:

1. Arrive on time and be prepared (sharpened pencil, paper, folder, text book, and workbook)

2. Be respectful of your classmates, teacher, materials, and yourself!

3. Stay on task (bell to bell).

Consequences:

Tardies- See school tardy policy for details.

Materials:

  1. 1 colored pocket folder This will stay in the room and be your portfolio
  2. A binder or folder with notebook paper, your notes, & ALL handouts from the teacher (Bring this everyday, please!)
  3. (Optional, but highly recommended) colored pencils, markers, or highlighters for notes (no red pens, please)
  4. You will be given one French workbook by the district. Please bring it every day!

Consumables~ these will go to the “student center” area:

  1. 6 pack of pencils (more than 6 is fine too!)
  2. a pack of lined flashcards (small size if possible)
  3. a box of tissues or paper towels
  4. a pack of construction paper or hand sanitizer or hand wipes

Materials are due in one week.  If there are any problems obtaining these items, please see me after class or leave me a note on my desk.

Excused absence make up work policy:

  • Please make every possible effort to check new.schoolnotes.com, e-mail me, stop by during SPARK, or check with a trusted classmate so you may return with assignments prepared for the next class.  Please keep in mind that French 7th covers all of the information for the French A (high school!) credit! Also, 8th grade French I A/B is a high school credit class!  You need to start developing high school and college study practices, which include taking initiative to find out any missed assignments before you return to classPlease try to be proactive!  If you miss a day, you are missing up to a half a week of high-school level (straight schedule) class time!  Being exposed to French outside of the classroom can be difficult in Texas, so your presence in class is of the utmost importance.  Also, high school credit hours cannot be given if you have too many unexcused absences, so please be careful.

  • You have to have an 80% (eighty percent) average in French 7 to be recommended for 8th grade, high school credit French IA/B.

  • There is no extra credit work to make up for missed home work and I do not accept late work except with an excused absence.  Even with an excused absence, it has to be turned in the next class!

  • Kindly keep in mind that magnet activities and other excused absences excuse you from class, but not from taking time to study, get the assignment, and come prepared to the next class!  J

  • Work, including tests and quizzes, can be made up during class time (when appropriate), but most conveniently during SPARK time.  Also, work can be made up by appointment after school (you will need a signed and dated pass from me to get into the building).

Grading system:

  1. Class work (including warm ups)  25%
  2. Homework    10%
  3. Quizzes (over warm up activities/ T/F video comprehension/grammar concepts/etc.): 20%
  4. Chapter tests: 30%
  5. Performance/products (including skits): 15%

I cannot express the importance of homework in French class.  Unlike Spanish, it can be very hard for you to be exposed to enough French outside of the classroom to help you reinforce the grammar and vocabulary taught in class.  Therefore, you need to be diligent in completing your French homework!  Your homework will always reflect the lessons being taught and will help you immensely in your study of the French language!  One last thing: Please get into the habit of bringing your text book and workbook everyday.  Thanks!

I have reviewed and discussed the class expectations with my child.

Ya hice una revision y una discusion de las reglas y las consecuencias en el salon de clase con mi hijo (a).
