S.S. HOMEWORK

This week's Quiz -  I will select 10 - 15 words from the first 26 words.  Bonus questions will deal with knowledge of the story 

APR   30 - This week we are beginning our South America unit by reading the novel JAGUAR. 

What to expect:

Reading comprehension and vocabulary building.  The students will be keeping vocabulary folders throughout the novel.  These foilders will remain in the classroom to ensure their attendance each day.  Each day students will be given the words for the upcoming chapter.  We will read as a class and individually.  As students come across the vocabulary words they will write in their folders a context clue definition.  They will write the actual test definition in the adjacent column.  They will be questions along the way to determine their following of the story.

Grades:

I will be looking in folders nightly to see that they are following the procedures for vocabulary.  The bulk of their weekly grades will be classwork grades,(context clue definitions, actual definitions and questions).

Periodic quizzes will be given on the vocabulary/story.

Once we get to 25 words, we will play BINGO to help practice the new vocabulary.  The total number of words will be 67.  By the end, students will be playing 3 BINGO boards at a time,  surprising themsleves that they know them.

Final Test at the end of the novel based on the 67 vocabulary words
