Welcome To St. Barnabas Library! We offer a pleasant and stimulating environment to learn in with hopes of developing a love of reading in all St. Barnabas students. Classes meet in the library once a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays starting on September 6th. Students are encouraged to select a book to keep for one week. They may only select one book at a time, but can return, reselect and renew at any time. Please remind your children to properly care for their library books and be responsible for them. The Accelerated Reading program is promoted to students in grades 2-8. They are invited to take Accelerated Reading tests in the library before and after school or during their library class. Throughout the school year the library sponsors contests to motivate students to participate in this program. The focus of grades K-3 is story time. Selected stories are read in class followed by related activities such as songs, games and art projects. Students will become familiar with Children's Literature and various authors. Students in grades 4-8 will receive a trimester grade of M (meets expectations) or U (unacceptable). These students are expected to come prepared to class with a folder, pen and loose leaf paper. Each student is required to take Accelerated Reader test per trimester. All students are expected to be respectful, contribute to the learning environment and follow classroom and school rules. I look forward to another wonderful school year with all the St. Barnabas students as we experience the joy of reading together. |
