Welcome!

I am looking forward to a great year as the new music teacher. Reminder: I am only in the school Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so if your child ever needs to turn something into me, they may leave it in my mailbox in the office.

Kindergarten through 3rd grade does not need to bring anything to music class, just their beautiful voices!

Grades 4-8 should have a folder for music.

Grades 6-8 need a folder and a notebook.

Children's Choir Update: WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 21st at 3:00 pm in the music room will be rehearsal for Mr. Fincham's Church Children's Choir to practice for Christmas Eve Mass. Those who attend will sing at the 4:00 pm Mass on Christmas Eve. There will not be SCHOOL Children's Choir rehearsal on this day.

Cantor Club: Open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. I will begin compiling a list of students who are interested in cantering for Friday morning masses. No more than 4 students can cantor together at one time. Students will cantor according to their availability and do not have to cantor every Friday. I will review the music that they will need to know during their music class, before school or during Children's Choir Rehearsal on Wednesdays depending on when those students are available.
5th Grade Music Assignment: DUE NOVEMBER 14th

Pick an instrumental song (music without words) and listen to it. Then listen to it again and write a creative story that you imagine is happening in the music. It should reflect the sound/style of the music. The story must be made up and should not be someone elses. The story should have a title and underneath the title should be the title of the song and the composer. It should be 1 page or more, typed with your name in the right hand corner. Possible song choices: In the Hall of the Mountain King / Funeral March of a Marionette / Toccata and Fugue in D Minor / Swan Lake Ballet / Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 / Anything from the Nutcracker / Beethoven / Mozart / J.S. Bach / Movie Soundtracks - as long as it is not about what's going on in the movie.

Christmas Choral Concert - Wednesday December 14th - 9:00 am - Rehearsal / 1:00 pm Families

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the Christmas Concert a success! The students did a great job and I am so proud of them! I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Children's Choir

Children's Choir will be open to grades 3 - 6.

Rehearsals will take place on Wednesdays right after school until 3:30 pm. Please pick up your child in the parking lot behind the school promptly at 3:30 pm.

Bell Choir: Mr. Fincham and I are in the process of starting a bell choir to ring for Friday morning Mass once a month and possibly Sundays. More information to come soon!

Participation points
Part of each students' grade in music class will be a participation grade. Each student will be given 5 points each class as part of their grade. This includes participation, as well as classroom behavior. Students who are not actively engaged during class time or continue to talk or disrupt the class will lose their 5 points for that day. This will effect your overall grade and should not be taken lightly.
