Classroom Management Strategies: All students will be held accountable to the school-wide PEBS (Positive Effective Behaviour Supports) expectations, which include: 1. Students will be prompt and prepared – Student and parent meetings may be needed for those students who continually arrive late for class. When students miss class time, they are missing valuable instructional time which impedes student learning. The goal of student/parent meetings will be to help strategize ways to ensure student promptness. Repeat offenders may have to make up missed class time through detentions. 2. Manners matter – Rude and inappropriate behaviour towards teachers or other students will not be tolerated. Phone calls home to parents of those students exhibiting these behaviours will be made to help strategize ways to ensure positive student behaviour. 3. Jackets and book bags will be stored in student lockers – Students will be asked to remove coats and book bags from classrooms for safety reasons. 4. Dress code, according to the Tri-County Regional School Board policy, will be in effect – Students dressed inappropriately for school will be corrected by teachers/administration by asking students to change into something that meets policy expectations. Hat can only be worn on designated “hat days.” 5. Cell phones and IPODS allowed during social time only – If students are using cell phones and IPODS during instructional time, these items will be taken away immediately by the classroom teacher and placed in the main office for pick-up at the end of the day. Parent meetings will be established for those students who become repeat offenders.
BMHS Literacy Standards 2011-12 These are our BMHS Literacy Standards for this academic year. They are designed to promote literacy and student achievement & expectations in all courses.
