I teach K-8 Technology and Art to K, 1, 2, 4B, 5B, 6th grades. My lessons follow the curriculum for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, which can be viewed by clicking on the education tab on www.archdiocese-phl.org.
I have a Master of Science in Business Management and was named on the 2000, 2001, and 2002 Who's Who in American Business Women listings. I was a marketing coordinator for an international horticulture company that served over 1200 growers and 3500 international vendors. I was awarded the Sam Walton Free Enterprise Fellow in 2002. From 2001-2007, I was the Dean of Academic Affairs for a for-profit, local technical college. In 2004, I was named on the Who's Who in American Educators list for my role as a professor of multi-media courses in higher education. I have been a loyal volunteer for the NFCA (National Foundation for Celiac Awareness), ABC (Association to Benefit Children), Gallery on High Street, High Street Music Company, and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Additionally, I served in Leadership in Business seminars as a guest speaker across the country. Additionally, I am now serving as a board member for Kutztown University's Alumni Association for a 4 year term.
In computer technology, I always integrate other subject areas: art, science, history, ILA, math. Students learn technical skills, layout and design skills, and the use and history of technology in the world. Students get hands-on experiences and practice skills with desktop computers in our 29-station computer lab.
I am very excited to bring formal art lessons to St. Mary's. I also hold a Master's of Education in Art and have over 20 years experience doing freelance graphic design work, as well as, commissioned portraits. I was honored at Penn College and Lycoming College as a guest speaker for my art education accomplishments. I teach part-time night classes in Art History and Fine Art at Montgomery County Community College.
My love is in printmaking, pencil, pen & ink, and other black and white mediums. My art lessons typically revolve around art history, current events, themes. The materials we use always depends on what the classroom teacher has available. Not all classrooms have the same materials, and some classes do not have much in the way of art supplies, so our options are limited. If you wish to donate any art supplies, please visit my Technology page on St. Mary's website, which lists some of the materials students would benefit from working with this year! I am happy to report that I wrote and received grant money to take the 6th grade to the Brandywine River Museum this Fall! As part of their art curriculum, they will see original paintings created by the Wyeth family. This should be a very worthwhile field trip for the 6th grade students and expose them to some fabulous, well-known, and beautiful landscape paintings!
