SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM (FORENSICS)
OFFICER ELECTIONS
What a great way to start the year. As of today, Madison Central has added four new members to the National Forensic League and brought home accolades from every tournament we've attended. Now that we've had a chance to stop and take a breath, let's plan for the coming year. The first order of business is to elect officers for the year. In keeping with our schools technology focus, the election of officers for the speech and debate team will be completed online.
Below is a list of the various positions with accompanying descriptions. All candidates for office should be committed to the growth of the program and should attend most tournaments. If you would like to run for office, send an email to me at bmayfield@madison-schools.com and your candidacy will be announced on this page. Candidate sign ups must be done by Friday, October 3. After the 3rd when all candidates names have been posted here, just send me an email with your name at the top and who you would vote for in each category and results will be compiled and announced on Wednesday, October 8.
PRESIDENT: The President should be someone who has a vision for the program's growth and who can provide leadership and supervision over recruitment, fundraising, and program development. The President should be an active participant in tournaments.
VICE-PRESIDENT for Promotions and Media: The VP for Promotions and Fundraising will coordinate recruitment efforts and work with the program sponsor to develop and implement promotional activities including videos, announcements, service opportunities, and press releases to local media outlets.
VICE-PRESIDENT for Fundraising and Resources: The VP for fundraising and resources is responsible for coordinating with the program sponsor to plan and carry out fundraisers and to make preparations for tournaments such as offering feedback to teammates and making sure tournament resources like TV commentary and extemporaneous supplies are available.
TEAM CLERK: The clerk is responsible for posting NFL point standings after each tournament, organizing ballots, and posting information on the bulletin board regarding upcoming tournaments.
All officers are expected to be active in the club by attending practices and meetings and competing regularly in tournaments.
