Grade 6: The 6th graders are finishing their community projects and they are doing an outstanding job.  We will be starting our maturation lesson the last week in May and first week in June. Please see the letter below that was sent home with all students.  If you would like to preview the video that we use please visit the proctor and gamble website or scroll all the way down to my favorite links. When on the Proctor and Gamble Website look for the video under For Parents.  The video I show is the 5th grade co-ed video all the way on the bottom.

Grade 7: The seventh graders have started to learn about  the Endocrine system with a focus on the reproductive system.  We will be using the Health and Human Body Text book and will be go over all of chapter 8.  We will also watch clips from the movie The Miracle of Life.

Grade 8:In eighth grade we will be discussing three very important relationships:  FAMILY, FRIENDS, ROMANTIC

We will be watching the TV movie She's Too Young and discussing the relationships that the characters have with their families, friends and while dating.  Letters were sent home, if you would prefer that your child not watch the movie please send the exempt form back in to me.

Health Education is an integralpart of the educational experience here at Littleton Middle School.  The course provides cognitive information andbehavioral skills necessary for students to deal with various life situations,choices and consequences.  This term inHealth students will be presented information about the human body in an ageappropriate manner.  The material ispresented in a balanced and factual way respecting each student.  The following topics will be discussed withthe following grade levels this term in Health. 

            Grade 8                 Review maturation/puberty

                                                HIV/AIDSand STD awareness and prevention

Under the Massachusetts law and School Committeepolicy, you may exempt your child from any portion of the human sexuality unitof the curriculum.  Please print out thisform and complete the bottom section of this form, if you choose to exempt yourchild from this portion of the curriculum. The forms can be returned to Mrs. Buonacore. No student who is exemptfrom this portion of the curriculum will be penalized.  Alternative assignments will beprovided.  Please check schoolnotes.comor the LMS website for more information concerning when the lessons will bepresented in the third term.
